Profile

Josy Conklin is a(n):

  • Medical artist. My animations and illustrations are high-quality visual explanations of biomedical concepts to engage and educate patients, doctors, or anyone else. In other words: I make medical education fun!
  • Problem solver. Come to me with a puzzle, and I will do my damnedest to find an answer. From basic technical questions to designing an animation that serves seven mutually exclusive purposes, I can help you come up with a solution.
  • Fast learner. I don’t know everything (yet!), but I catch on quickly.
  • Educated nerd. I earned my Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago (August December 2010). I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar College in 2006 with both general and departmental honors; my Bachelor of Arts is in music with a pre-medical emphasis and a minor in chemistry. Plus, I get really excited over things like Mendeley. It’s like iTunes for research papers! How cool is that?!
  • Diligent worker. Before I begin a project, I immerse myself in all the resources I can find on the subject. And once I start the rest of it, I won't be finished until we've all agreed that it's as accurate, appealing, and informative as it possibly can be. I will forever push myself to be creating something better.
